Tree Stumps for Scenery // Baumstümpfe für Tabletop Gelände und Dioramen

I  recently sculpted this set of tree stumps for various terrain projects and want to share the results  in this post with you. The stumps are made from modelling putty and a little piece of wood to reduce the needed amount of putty and Greenstuff. The wood also gives the stumps the round shape. Using a wooden core, Greenstuff to advance the shape and oven bake clay/putty for the details is a great combination and works perfect for me. If you only use oven bake putty without a core structure - it is much harder to keep it in shape cause everything stays flexible till you bake it.

NOTE: Take care and try to not produce any air-pockets when using oven hardening putty cause it may bubble when headed. 

The modelling process is difficult to explain. I would say: Just try it! And inspire yourself by tons of tutorials at YouTube. :-)

GERMAN: Für meine Tabletop-Geländebau-Projekte habe ich ``kürzlich´´ ein Set Baumstümpfe modelliert. Verwendet habe ich Greenstuff, einen hölzernen Kern und Beesputty. Die Kombination funktioniert ausgezeichnet. Der Kern gibt dem Modell direkt die passende Form und Stabilität. Darüber wird mit Greenstuff weiter ausgearbeitet, um die grobe Form des Modells zu erhalten. Darauf kommt eine im Ofen aushärtende Masse, ich empfehle Beesputty. Da die Masse erst nach dem Backen erstarrt, hat man jede Menge Zeit, um sich den Details zu widmen. 

Tipp: Man sollte darauf achten keine Lufteinschlüsse zu produzieren, ansonsten kann es beim Backen zu Blasenbildung kommen und das Modell wird im schlimmsten Fall unbrauchbar. 

Zum Modellieren verwende ich gängige Werkzeuge. Wie es genau funktioniert? Einfach ausprobieren und machen und üben! :-)
